Lodi Festival and Stieg Larsson

First things first, I saw Hans today. At least I’m fairly sure it was him. He was all curled next to some bushes by the market where he usually hangs out. I went on another long walk today. Here are some pictures of the park right by my house where I have been running on the left.

Tonight, my host mom took me to celebrate the Lodi Festival. The Lodi festival marks the end of winter and the beginning of the harvest for (mostly Punjabi) farmers. A big bonfire is made and different foods (popcorn, peanuts, and sweet sesame seed snacks) are thrown into the fire as offerings to the Hindu Sun God. Going to this festival made me reminiscence on my own Jewish culture, because for a good thirty minutes before the bonfire began, people socialized like old bubbes before temple services.

Sorry for such a short post, but I’m going to bed for two reasons:
  1. I am going to a tiger sanctuary tomorrow and the mode of transportation at the park is…elephants! (Y’all be jealous!)
  2. I just finished The Girl Who Played with Fire, by Stieg Larsson, and had to go buy the final and third book to the series (at a really sweet book shop!!) so I really need to go read that.
